What It Means To Serve

Serving others is a direct result of our connection with Christ and growth in our relationship with Him. Our focus on serving one another is a necessity example to be an affective witness for Christ and His Kingdom. Our efforts in this area revolve around all the actions and ministries within our church walls in striving to authentically serve just as Christ served. These ministries are geared to involve our community of believers in hands on service to others, making us as a whole more capable of serving the needs of the people here in Pooler.

The gospel of Jesus Christ has radically changed each person who has accepted Him as Lord and Savior. We at Pooler FBC believe that we are to be agents of change in the world as well. We believe that since Creator God takes us, broken and sinful, and breathes new spiritual life into us through the power of the gospel, then we too can put the gospel into action in practical ways in a broken and sinful society. We seek to make a difference in persons’ lives and in the community through practical ways while building bridges to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to reach out to families in need, to show random acts of kindness to those we meet and to outreach to our community through events and projects connecting us to them and them to Jesus Christ.

"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."

- 1 Peter 4:10-11

At PFBC, we have a blended worship service that includes a mixture of contemporary praise and worship songs, traditional hymns, and even a bit of southern gospel.

As you come into God's house at PFBC, bring before Him your praise for His goodness. Be prepared to lay before His throne your petitions for healing and protection. Join with other children of the one true God and worship Him for His forgiveness of sins and salvation from ourselves. Praise Him for His faithful love and presence in our lives here on earth now and the promise of an eternal life in Heaven with Him.

  • Adult Choir The adult choir invites singers age high school and older to join. Practices are held every Wednesday at 7:45pm.
  • Praise Band We are currently seeking musically inclined individuals who have a passion for worshiping the Lord and would like to help the Worship Pastor in leading the congregation in worship.

Please speak with our Worship Pastor Tim Addy if you have an interest in serving in any of the above worship ministry areas.

No matter how great the preaching is or how well the music is done, without a media team, it is nearly impossible to conduct an effective worship service. From the lighting in the room to the sound coming out of the speakers, a great media team makes all the difference. Serving on the media team is one of the most humbling experiences because, as a media team member, doing your job right means that no one notices you're even there. As a media team member, you have 2 main jobs:

  • To assist the Pastor and Worship Pastor in creating an atmosphere that is conducive to worship while
  • Eliminating distractions that take away from the worship service

Being on the media team is an incredible opportunity to serve the Lord and our church as you are directly involved in helping others experience the Gospel in conjunction with the Pastor and Worship Pastor.

Pooler First Baptist Church currently operates from a volunteer base of workers to support the church in the following media areas:

  • Worship Slide Presentations PFBC currently uses Proclaim to provide song lyrics on the front and back screens for worship services.
  • Announcement Slides PFBC uses a pre-service announcement slideshow to highlight important upcoming events.
  • Sound Board The management of the sound system is a crucial element of the worship service.
  • Livestream All of our morning and evening worship services are recorded and livestreamed.
  • News Releases At times there are events which need media releases to advertise to the community a special or seasonal event which may be of interest to them.

If you are skilled in one of the above areas or have an interest in serving in one of the above areas, please speak with one of the following church members:
